Cuanto mayor sea la altitud, mayor ser\u00e1 el riesgo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La presi\u00f3n de crucero en la cabina de un avi\u00f3n comercial normalmente se mantiene constante independientemente de cu\u00e1l sea la altitud real del vuelo. La altitud efectiva equivalente de la cabina generalmente oscila entre los 1.829 y los 2.438 metros (6.000 y 8.000 pies), aunque var\u00eda un poco seg\u00fan el tipo de avi\u00f3n. De 1992 a 1999, voluntarios en seco y en reposo probaron nueve perfiles de buceo \u00fanicos y repetitivos que se encontraban cerca de los l\u00edmites de no descompresi\u00f3n del buceo deportivo. Los buzos luego realizaron vuelos simulados de 4 horas a 2.438 metros (8.000 pies).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En 802 pruebas, hubo 40 incidentes de EDC durante o despu\u00e9s de los vuelos. En lo que respecta a los buceos \u00fanicos sin paradas a 18 metros (60 pies) o m\u00e1s, no hubo casos de EDC con intervalos de superficie de 11 horas o m\u00e1s. Los representantes de la industria del buceo deportivo y expertos de otras comunidades de buceo ten\u00edan dos objetivos:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Analizar los lineamientos y los datos experimentales desarrollados desde el primer taller sobre volar despu\u00e9s de bucear realizado en 1989.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lograr un consenso para establecer nuevos lineamientos respecto a volar despu\u00e9s de practicar buceo deportivo.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>El consenso anterior era esperar 12 horas despu\u00e9s de un \u00fanico buceo sin paradas, 24 horas despu\u00e9s varios d\u00edas de buceos repetitivos y 48 horas despu\u00e9s de buceos que requer\u00edan paradas de descompresi\u00f3n. En respuesta a algunos participantes que consideraban que este consenso era demasiado conservador, DAN propuso una espera m\u00e1s simple de 24 horas para todos los buceos deportivos. Despu\u00e9s de algunos debates, los participantes acordaron que a menos que pudieran confiar en computadoras de buceo, los lineamientos escritos para el buceo deportivo deb\u00edan ser simples e inequ\u00edvocos, sin necesidad de hacer referencia a tablas conforme lo requer\u00edan los procedimientos de la Marina de los Estados Unidos. Consideraron a tres grupos de buzos:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Personas sin certificaci\u00f3n que participaron en una experiencia de buceo introductoria<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Buzos certificados que realizaron una cantidad ilimitada de buceos de no descompresi\u00f3n con aire o Nitrox a lo largo de varios d\u00edas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Buzos t\u00e9cnicos que realizaron buceos de descompresi\u00f3n o utilizaron mezclas respiratorias con helio<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-provisional-flying-after-diving-guidelines\"><strong>Directrices provisionales para volar despu\u00e9s de bucear<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Las siguientes recomendaciones para buzos deportivos representan el consenso alcanzado por los asistentes al taller Volar despu\u00e9s de practicar buceo deportivo (Flying After Recreational Diving Workshop) de 2002. Los asistentes crearon las recomendaciones sobre la base de publicaciones anteriores y pruebas experimentales. Estas recomendaciones se aplican a buceos con aire seguidos de vuelos con una altitud de cabina de 610 a 2,438 metros (2.000 a 8.000 pies) para buzos que no tengan s\u00edntomas de EDC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Las recomendaciones deber\u00edan reducir el riesgo de EDC relacionado con volar despu\u00e9s de bucear, pero no garantizan que no se produzca una EDC. Realizar intervalos de superficie antes de volar m\u00e1s largos que lo que indican las recomendaciones permitir\u00e1 reducir el riesgo de EDC a\u00fan m\u00e1s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-dives-within-no-decompression-limits\"><strong>Buceos dentro de los l\u00edmites de no descompresi\u00f3n<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Para un \u00fanico buceo de no descompresi\u00f3n, la recomendaci\u00f3n es un intervalo de superficie de 12 horas como m\u00ednimo antes de volar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Para varios buceos por d\u00eda o varios d\u00edas de buceo, la recomendaci\u00f3n es un intervalo de superficie de 18 horas como m\u00ednimo antes de volar.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:31px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-dives-requiring-decompression-stops\"><strong>Buceos que requieren paradas de descompresi\u00f3n<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Hay muy poca evidencia experimental o publicada en la que se pueda basar una recomendaci\u00f3n para los buceos de descompresi\u00f3n. Un intervalo de superficie antes de volar de mucho m\u00e1s de 18 horas parece prudente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-flying-with-dcs-symptoms\"><strong>Volar con s\u00edntomas de EDC<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Los asistentes al taller analizaron pruebas FAD (volar despu\u00e9s de bucear, del ingl\u00e9s \u201cflying after diving\u201d) recientes y datos de campo disponibles respecto de volar despu\u00e9s de bucear y volar con s\u00edntomas de EDC e identificaron diferencias potencialmente importantes entre los estudios de campo y los de c\u00e1mara. Los buceos en campo incluyeron inmersiones, ejercicio y varios d\u00edas de buceo, mientras que las pruebas en c\u00e1mara se realizaron en un solo d\u00eda con buzos fuera del agua y en reposo. Es posible que las pruebas en c\u00e1mara no hayan simulado adecuadamente lo que sucede al volar despu\u00e9s de bucear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Es m\u00e1s com\u00fan que los buzos vuelen con s\u00edntomas de EDC y no que desarrollen s\u00edntomas durante o despu\u00e9s de un vuelo. Volar con s\u00edntomas puede generar un problema de salud mucho mayor que cuando los s\u00edntomas surgen durante o despu\u00e9s de un vuelo. Los buzos deben solicitar asistencia m\u00e9dica y evitar volar si observan signos o s\u00edntomas que puedan indicar la presencia de una EDC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-limitations\"><strong>Limitaciones<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Las actas del taller se\u00f1alaban que debido a que en las pruebas experimentales descritas en el taller se us\u00f3 una c\u00e1mara hiperb\u00e1rica \u201cen seco\u201d con voluntarios en reposo es posible que las recomendaciones deban ser m\u00e1s largas para los buzos sumergidos en agua y haciendo ejercicio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los participantes determinaron que se deber\u00eda realizar un estudio experimental sobre los efectos del ejercicio y la inmersi\u00f3n en los intervalos de superficie antes de volar.
