Peque\u00f1os gr\u00e1nulos o pellets absorben el di\u00f3xido de carbono exhalado y permiten el paso del ox\u00edgeno. Este proceso qu\u00edmico permite que los rebreathers reciclen el aire exhalado, lo que limita el consumo de gas y permite inmersiones m\u00e1s prolongadas. Una vez saturado, el sorbente debe desecharse. El conocimiento del sorbente y sus componentes qu\u00edmicos es importante tanto para el buceo seguro con rebreather como para una pr\u00e1ctica responsable con el medio ambiente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-does-scrubber-work\"><strong>\u00bfC\u00f3mo funciona el depurador?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-ad2f72ca wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<p>La cal sodada, el material depurador m\u00e1s com\u00fan, contiene una mezcla de hidr\u00f3xido de calcio e hidr\u00f3xido de sodio. Cuando el buceador exhala, el di\u00f3xido de carbono viaja a trav\u00e9s del circuito a trav\u00e9s del recipiente de sorb, que contiene bolitas o gr\u00e1nulos de hidr\u00f3xido de calcio e hidr\u00f3xido de sodio. El di\u00f3xido de carbono del aliento exhalado reacciona entonces con los iones de hidr\u00f3xido para formar iones de bicarbonato. Dependiendo de la composici\u00f3n qu\u00edmica exacta del material depurador usado, desecharlo en la basura municipal normal puede ser ilegal y perjudicial para el medio ambiente. Si bien el material depurador totalmente usado estar\u00eda compuesto en su totalidad de carbonato de calcio no peligroso, lo cierto es que normalmente no lo es, lo que significa que puede contener algo de hidr\u00f3xido de sodio t\u00f3xico para el medio ambiente y, por lo tanto, no ser\u00eda adecuado para la eliminaci\u00f3n municipal habitual. Siguiendo estrictamente las regulaciones, el hidr\u00f3xido de sodio se considera un residuo peligroso y debe eliminarse adecuadamente en un sitio de recolecci\u00f3n de residuos peligrosos local, normalmente ubicado junto a los vertederos. Seg\u00fan el C\u00f3digo de Regulaciones Federales de los EE. UU. (CFR T\u00edtulo 40, Parte 261), es en \u00faltima instancia responsabilidad del generador del residuo potencialmente peligroso (en este caso, el buceador con rebreather) deshacerse de \u00e9l siguiendo todas las regulaciones locales, estatales y federales.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El buceador con rebreather que bucea en diversos lugares debe asegurarse de comprender todas las leyes y pr\u00e1cticas aplicables para cada jurisdicci\u00f3n donde genera, almacena y elimina desechos potencialmente peligrosos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-best-practices\"><strong>Buenas Pr\u00e1cticas<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Independientemente de su ubicaci\u00f3n, existen algunas pr\u00e1cticas recomendadas que debe recordar. Siga siempre las pautas de eliminaci\u00f3n proporcionadas por el fabricante del sorbente o del rebreather y confirme que este m\u00e9todo de eliminaci\u00f3n cumple con todas las leyes de eliminaci\u00f3n locales, estatales y federales. No arroje el sorbente usado al agua.
