Some people think it is a potentially lifesaving last resort for a diver exhibiting symptoms of decompression illness (DCI) when far from definitive care. Others emphasize the evident risk of potentially making a bad situation worse.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re an experienced diver, your perspective matters, and we\u2019re inviting you to share it in an anonymous online survey. The goal for our new anonymous online survey is simple: to understand what the dive community <em>actually<\/em> thinks and knows about IWR, what training divers have, and whether people are incorporating IWR into real-world emergency planning despite the controversy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While a return to pressure is the basic rationale for decompression sickness (DCS) treatment, IWR\u2019s effectiveness and safe implementation depend heavily on conditions, protocols, and diver preparedness. Emerging guidance suggests IWR may be considered only in specific, controlled circumstances, particularly in remote locations where access to a hyperbaric chamber is delayed or unavailable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your perspective matters, and we invite you to take our 10- to 15-minute survey. Participation is open to adults (18+) who hold an advanced enriched air nitrox (EAN) certification or higher.
