OXYGEN HAS LONG BEEN RECOGNIZED AS THE PRIMARY FIRST AID FOR SCUBA DIVING INJURIES<\/strong>,<\/span> specifically decompression sickness (DCS) and arterial gas embolism (AGE). Part of DAN\u2019s mission is to ensure that oxygen first aid equipment and people trained in its use are at every dive site. Our intention is to help dive professionals and organizations by providing oxygen units to those who demonstrate an operational need for emergency oxygen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DAN Oxygen Grant Program allows DAN members to apply for a low- or no-cost oxygen unit for use during scuba diving emergencies. To better serve the dive community, we accept applications year-round and review them on a rolling basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MATCHING GRANT<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Matching Grant offers an oxygen unit at a low cost to the recipient. It is available to DAN members who serve the industry in a professional capacity, such as dive professionals, store owners, and dive facility operators. Through this program, DAN will contribute 50 percent of the cost of the oxygen unit. The applicant selects the unit and is responsible for all shipping and related costs to the destination, whether domestic or international.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FULL GRANT<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Full Grant offers an oxygen unit at no cost to the recipient and is available to nonprofit organizations, certain public safety dive teams, academic and scientific institutions, zoos, aquariums, and similar entities. The unit awarded to the recipient is at the discretion of DAN and is based on several factors. DAN covers domestic shipping, but the recipient is responsible for shipping and related costs to destinations outside of the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
