PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT

DAN reached a significant milestone in the accredited DAN–UHMS Continuing Medical Education (CME) program in May 2025: the debut of a two-week, dual-course format.

Expert faculty guided participants through engaging lectures, case presentations, and discussions on the latest developments in dive safety and treatment protocols. The curriculum drew from current scientific literature, DAN’s Medical Services call center archives, and faculty experience.

The first week’s Core Concepts course delivered essential dive and hyperbaric medicine fundamentals. Building on this foundation, the new Special Topics course the next week delved into advanced aspects of the field.

More than 50 physicians and other health care professionals from around the world attended the spring CME at the Anse Chastanet Resort in St. Lucia, with many registering for both sessions.

The dynamic knowledge exchange extended beyond the classroom as faculty and participants explored St. Lucia’s protected marine park, diving its vibrant reefs and wrecks.

Since its inception more than 40 years ago, the CME program — jointly provided by DAN and the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society — has continued to evolve at the forefront of dive medicine, reflecting DAN’s enduring commitment to excellence in continuing medical education and enhanced care for the dive community worldwide.
