Your Safety Is Our Mission
Each year, DAN strengthens its commitment to the dive community, and we owe our success to you. Your tax-deductible donation not only supports the DAN Emergency Hotline but also aids research and programs designed to protect divers. Together, we can make diving safer everywhere.
Your Safety Is Our Mission
Donations to DAN help fund initiatives, including those outlined below, that enhance and expand our global safety net for divers.
Hotline Darurat
The DAN Emergency Hotline, operational for over 40 years, has assisted tens of thousands of divers and medical personnel during dive emergencies.
Trained medics and physicians are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, ensuring that no diver ever has to face an emergency alone.
Program Bantuan Chamber Rekompresi
Since 1993, DAN’s Recompression Chamber Assistance Program (RCAP) has provided vital assistance to recompression chambers to enhance divers’ access to safe, quality care.
DAN supports operational assessments, staff training, and equipment upgrades for hyperbaric facilities near popular dive sites globally.
Oxygen Grants
DAN strives to increase the availability of emergency oxygen, the preferred first aid for scuba diving injuries.
Through grant programs, DAN makes emergency oxygen equipment more accessible to divers, professionals, and operators in genuine need.
The DAN Endowment
The DAN Endowment exists to ensure continuous support for DAN’s mission — today and in the future. Your gift will be added to the principal of the fund and never spent.
Gifts of all amounts are accepted for the DAN Endowment, and each can be designated as an unrestricted gift or as a gift in support of research. A named fund under the DAN Endowment may be established with a minimum gift of US$10,000 and can be set up to support endowed unrestricted funding or endowed research funding. Please contact DAN directly or call 1-919-684-2948 if you wish to set up this type of gift.

The Peter B. Bennett Endowed Research Fund
This fund honors the contributions of Peter B. Bennett, Ph.D., D.Sc., founder, president, and chief executive officer of Divers Alert Network from its establishment in 1980 to his retirement on June 30, 2003. Dr. Bennett served DAN for 23 years, providing guidance and leadership. During his tenure, DAN became the world’s largest nonprofit international member organization dedicated to dive safety.
The Peter B. Bennett Endowed Research Fund was established to provide support for research initiatives conducted by and in conjunction with DAN Research. Available income from the fund is used to support these research initiatives in support of dive safety.
The Michael J. Norwood Memorial Research Fund
Michael Norwood was an avid diver who never tired of the scuba diving experience and enjoyed every opportunity he found to explore the underwater world. He believed part of that exploration included expanding our knowledge of diving health and safety.
On Dec. 6, 2003, Michael met an untimely death while scuba diving in Palau, filming an episode of the History Channel program Deep Sea Detectives, of which he was the co-host.Named in memory of Michael, the Michael J. Norwood Memorial Research Fund provides DAN with funding for research initiatives conducted by DAN Research.
