Recognizing an Injury: Most injuries in diving are mild and not necessarily apparent to others. If you do not feel well after dive, something may be wrong. Tell the dive supervisor and your buddy how you feel and seek advice. Remember, denial can sometimes complicate even a mild injury. DAN is always available if you have symptoms after a dive.
First Aid: Immediate and proper first aid my improve or resolve symptoms before you reach hospital. In remote locations first aid oxygen may be the only help divers can expect and is thus very important.
Treatment: Management of diving injuries, diagnosis, proper treatment and returning to diving after healing are topics of interest to DAN Research. When the evidence does not suffice to establish best practices, we convene experts to discuss issues and provide advice based on expert consensus.
