PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT: DAN Wraps Up Successful Bring a Buddy Campaign

DAN is a membership association, which means attracting new divers is essential to the long-term success of our organization. Revenue generated through DAN membership allows us to provide services such as our 24/7 emergency hotline and medical information line. Those funds also support our dive safety research to benefit the global dive community. 

In June 2023 DAN launched its Bring a Buddy campaign to increase awareness of the organization and drive membership to help sustain these important services. The program offered DAN members incentives such as chances at exciting dive travel or gear prizes for referring their friends and dive buddies for membership. 

Top brands such as Aggressor Adventures, Little Cayman Beach Resort, Scubapro, GoPro, Cressi, SeaLife, Shearwater, Kraken, and Fourth Element generously provided more than $30,000 in prizes. We chose winners by a random drawing and awarded the prizes in pairs, so both the referring member and the new member received matching prizes.

DAN members enthusiastically embraced the campaign throughout last summer and fall. The thousands of referral links members created are a testament to the strongest referral campaign that DAN has deployed in decades. 

It is always great to see new divers join the DAN family. The real prize, however, was connecting more divers with our valuable safety services and information to help reduce the likelihood of accidents and injuries.
