Congratulations! You are on your way to becoming a NAUI certified diver, and we welcome you to DAN World — Your Dive Safety Association. For over 45 years, DAN has helped divers in need of emergency medical assistance and worked tirelessly to improve dive safety through research, education, and training.

The DAN World Student Membership Program provides access to dive medical professionals, online safety information, and up to $25,000 in Student Dive Accident Insurance to help protect you against the costs of a covered diving accident occurring during your NAUI entry-level training.* Best of all, this program is fully-funded by DAN World and is available at no cost to you or your instructor.

What does Student Dive Accident Insurance Cover?

Student Dive Accident Insurance covers any diving activity, in or out of the water, that is necessary to meet the standards for receiving an entry-level diving certification for open circuit scuba or breath-hold diving, including, but not limited to, donning or removing dive equipment, entering and exiting the water, swimming, and diving. A diving activity begins the moment the student lifts their BCDs and continues until the moment their equipment is placed on the ground. A covered dive (includes breath-hold diving and snorkeling), begins the moment the student enters the water and ends the moment they exit the water.

How much does DAN World Student Membership cost?

For over 45 years, DAN’s mission has been to make every dive accident and injury free. Consistent with this goal, DAN World’s Student Membership Program is fully funded by DAN World.

Who is eligible to enroll in the DAN World Student Membership Program?

To be eligible for the program, NAUI entry-level students students must:

  • Meet minimum age requirement (ages 8 or older and under age 70, are eligible to be enrolled for coverage. Divers age 70 and older must receive a written exemption from DAN World.
  • Be enrolled in a NAUI entry-level course
  • Reside in a region where DAN World provides coverage
  • Not a current or former DAN World member
  • Not enrolled in another DAN World Dive Accident Insurance plan

What if I don’t meet the program eligibility requirements?

If an eligibility requirement is not met, the DAN World Student Membership Program offer will not appear at the start of your NAUI course. Ineligible students will not be able to participate.

Is this program valid for entry-level freedive training?

Yes, the DAN World Student Membership Program is open to entry-level scuba or breath-hold divers.

How do NAUI entry-level students enroll in DAN World Student Membership?

NAUI entry-level students self-enroll at the start of their online E-Learning in NAUI CORE. When prompted, each student must click “Accept” (the default setting is “Decline”).

Once enrolled, will I receive an email confirmation from NAUI or DAN World?

Yes, NAUI entry-level students who enroll in the DAN World Student Membership Program will receive communications from both NAUI and DAN World. A student will receive a system email confirmation from NAUI and a system confirmation in CORE. A DAN badge will be visible on your “My Courses” page in CORE. Enrolled entry-level students will be subscribed to a DAN World email journey that will offer additional free safety resources during the course.

When do DAN World Student Membership benefits become effective?

DAN World Student Membership benefits become effective when you enroll as part of your NAUI open water diver course. Once enrolled, you will receive a confirmation email that includes a digital Student Membership card and Student ID number.

When does DAN World Student Membership expire?

DAN World Student Membership expires upon completion of your last certifying dive, or 26 weeks after enrollment, whichever comes first.

How do I create my DAN World Student Membership Account?

CLICK HERE and select the option that describes the country in which you reside. Next, select ‘Create/Forgot Password’ and enter in the email in which you registered on NAUI Core. Follow the instruction to create your password and log into your account.
