Southern Right Whales

A few white southern right whales are born each year, but this leucistic trait is not a permanent feature. Their coloration usually gives way to a lighter gray in adulthood, indicating they were white at birth and distinguishing them from the more common darker whales.

Puerto Galera

Al descender de la embarcación en Sabang Beach, cerca de Puerto Galera en la isla de Mindoro, Filipinas, un letrero que dice “Bienvenido a Sabang, su puerta de entrada al corazón del centro de la biodiversidad marina” le da la bienvenida. Esa frase define el buceo en la región, ya que no encontrará más especies de peces en ninguna otra parte de la Tierra.

Los reporteros gráficos de buceo suelen ir a los mismos lugares, pero rara vez simultáneamente. Sin embargo, en 2006 Alex Mustard participó en un evento de fotografía llamado Digital Madness, y yo estaba allí para cubrirlo para una revista. Esa fue la única vez que buceamos juntos en Gran Caimán.
