For over 40 years, we have helped divers in need of emergency medical assistance and work tirelessly to improve dive safety through research, education, and training.
Your dive center has enrolled you as a DAN Student Member which provides free access to dive medical professionals, online safety information, and up to US$25,000 in medical expense coverage if you get injured during your entry-level training.*

How much does DAN Student Membership cost?
DAN Student Membership is provided at no cost to you and is fully subsidized by DAN.
When does my Student Membership begin?
Your membership becomes active as soon as you are registered by your dive operator and you receive a confirmation email, which also contains your Student Member card and member number.
When does my Student Membership expire?
DAN Student Membership expires when your last certifying dive is completed, or 180 days after enrollment, whichever comes first.
Can I upgrade or extend my membership?
Students may become DAN members at any time during their training. Simply log into your Member Portal and upgrade your Student Membership to a full DAN annual coverage package. If you need assistance, you can reach our Customer Service Team:

What does DAN Student Membership Cover?
DAN Student Medical Expense policy covers any diving activity, in- or out-of-water, that is necessary to meet standards for receiving open-water scuba diving certification or entry-level certification for breath-hold diving. Covered activities include, but are not limited to, donning or doffing dive equipment, swimming, diving and traveling by charter boat to a diving destination. “Diving activities” begin from the moment students lift their BCDs until the moment their equipment is placed on the ground, or for breath-hold diving and snorkeling, from the moment they enter until they
exit the water.
Does this program cover free-dive training?
Yes, the DAN Student Medical Expense Coverage program is available to entry-level breath-hold divers.
