DAN Business Members are expected to be leaders in the diving community. To that end, the DAN Code of Conduct provides a standard of conduct expected of DAN Business Members as they interact with DAN, other industry professionals, and the dive community in general. DAN Business Members should:
- Conduct themselves and their activities in a professional manner
- Promote safety among their students and divers
- Be honest
- Use staff who are properly trained and certified for all courses and activities offered
- Stay informed of developments in dive safety and the dive industry
- Treat student divers and all those involved in dive activities with respect, regardless of age, ethnicity, gender, religious affiliation, disability, or sexual orientation
- Abide by all federal and local laws
- Understand that a criminal conviction either during or prior to DAN Business Membership is grounds for denial or termination of DAN Business Membership
- Not disparage DAN, other industry organizations, or dive professionals
- Never harass, intimidate, or make unwanted sexual advances towards another person
- Cooperate with any investigation of a DAN Business Member if requested to do so by DAN
